ILO-LWF JOINT TVET TRAINING CENTRE FOR REFUGEES AND HOST COMMUNITIES IN KEBRIBEYAH UNDER THE PROSPECTS INITIATIVE.

The objective of the joint LWF and ILO Kebribeyah TVET Training Centre project under the Prospects  Initiative is designed to provide vocational training opportunities in various trades including Finishing works, General Metal Fabrication and Aluminium works, Sanitary Installation works, Building Electrical Installation (BEI), Irrigation technology i.e. drip irrigation cobblestone Laying to both refugee and host communities in Fafan zone, Somali region in alignment with the Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework (CRRF) and the Ethiopian Government pledges made to the self-reliance of both refugees and the communities that host their communities by facilitating access to land, education, the socio-economic integration of both communities.

The Prospects project is designed to ease the burden on the Somali Government and which, for decades been hosting tens of thousands of refugees as well as to contribute to durable solutions to the extremely protracted refugee situation in Ethiopia, a few students and graduates at a time. The Training Centre will be based in Kebribeyah but is expected to serve students from around Fafan zone, Somali Regional State.

The project is expected to cost approximately USD 1 million dollars and is expected to be inaugurated in early 2022.

On 01 September 2021, LWF and ILO presented the 3D architectural design to the President of Somali Regional State, His Excellency Ato Mustafa Oumer, and all relevant stakeholders from the regional and district levels as well as the Administration for Refugee and Returnee Affairs.
